Lewis and Leigh

Friday February 24, 2017

This session has passed.

Lewis & Leigh – Al Lewis from Wales and Alva Leigh from Mississippi – release their debut album ‘Ghost.

A stunning collection of self-penned originals, ‘Ghost’ is the culmination of a collaboration that began in 2014 when the two solo musicians first began writing together. Recorded in January 2016 at Urchin Studios in London with Matt Ingram, ‘Ghost’ celebrates the differences in their individual experiences whilst finding common ground.

They received two nominations (Best UK Song & Best UK Act) at the inaugural UK Americana Awards earlier this year. A stand out acoustic performance around one microphone at that event led to invitations to join Billy Bragg’s songwriters’ round at Glastonbury, to open shows for Deacon Blue on their UK tour in November and to make a return visit to the US Americana Festival in Nashville in September.

Special Guest

Hannah Brown

Hannah Brown is a 16-year-old singer songwriter born in London.

In addition to singing, Hannah plays guitar, piano, ukulele and harmonica. When she was two years old her parents temporarily moved to the Maltese island of Gozo, where they ended up staying for 14 years. The family will be moving back to the UK in 2016 where Hannah will be studying music at a Brighton college.

She grew up listening to the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, John Martyn and Tracy Chapman being played at home; not only has she been influenced by these musicians but also has favourites of her own including Laura Marling, Ben Howard, Paolo Nutini and Damien Rice.
